About Betsy
Betsy Bass, LMFT, PCC, CPCC has always loved connecting to people.
She started her career as a junior high school teacher in Lubbock, Texas and then taught high school English, Spanish and Reading for the Department of Defense Overseas Teachers Program on an Air Force Base in Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada, and on a Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Betsy decided that she might be able to assist students even more if she became a counselor, so she enrolled in a program of Marriage, Family and Child Counseling at the University of San Francisco in 1977, completing her Master’s degree and license (LMFT-Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist) in 1979.
Although Betsy worked as a mental health professional in 5 health clinics in North County, San Diego, as a mental health consultant to the Hearing Impaired program in the Denver Public Schools, as Assistant to the Head of the International Center on Deafness at Gallaudet College in Washington, DC, as mental health consultant to the Head Start program in Danbury, Connecticut and in private practice all over the country, Betsy did not find her real passion until she discovered the field of COACHING in 1999.
Betsy trained at MentorCoach, a coach training school for Mental Health Professionals and also at The Coaches Training Institute (CTI) where she became a CPCC, (Certified Professional Co-Active Coach). Not only does Betsy have a full individual coaching practice, but she also loves leading coaching groups and teaching classes for MentorCoach. She has been a pod leader for Authentic Happiness Coaching, a joint venture between Dr. Martin E. P. Seligman and Dr. Ben Dean, a program which combines coaching with research in positive psychology. Betsy was appointed Assistant Training Director for MentorCoach™ where she brings warmth, commitment, and a high level of energy to all of her work. In 2004, she became a PCC (Professional Certified Coach) with the International Coach Federation.
Because she travels quite a bit herself, she appreciates the flexibility that telephone coaching can provide while giving her an opportunity to engage deeply in the transformation of people’s lives.
